Mazda Motor Sees 41% Profit Spike; Global Sales Up 20% — Strongest Growth in Europe

Mazda’s fiscal 2004 net income soared 41 percent to $299.4 million. European sales and the weakness of the yen against the euro are cited as key factors for the growth. The automaker’s global shipments rose 20 percent to 1.225 million vehicles, the strongest growth in Europe. Mazda, in red four years ago, now has a third consecutive year in the black.
