SUV Crash Fatalities Rose 11% in 2003, Car Fatalities Dropped 3.8%


In 2003, more than half of those killed in SUVs died in rollovers caus­ing some con­cerned cit­i­zens to call for more reg­u­la­tions. While fatal­i­ties in pas­sen­ger cars went down 3.8%, there was an 11% increase in SUV crash deaths. Motor vehi­cle crash­es are the eighth lead­ing cause of death for Amer­i­cans.
