Coolant Selection Important but Color is Not a Reliable Guide


The dye col­or of coolant is not a reli­able indi­ca­tor of type, because no gov­ern­ing stan­dard exists. Improp­er coolant choice or main­te­nance can chem­i­cal­ly imbal­ance a vehi­cle sys­tem and inval­i­date war­ranties. Mix­ing coolant types may result in cav­i­ta­tion cor­ro­sion to the water pump, but will not dam­age the engine.
