As part of Gen­er­al Motors’ effort to bet­ter dif­fer­en­ti­ate its brands, the automak­er plans to make Pon­ti­ac the “non-fleet-ori­ent­ed, more per­for­mance ori­ent­ed brand.” To start this trans­for­ma­tion Pon­ti­ac dis­played three new vehi­cles at the New York Inter­na­tion­al Auto Show, includ­ing two that will be built in Aus­tralia for world­wide dis­tri­b­u­tion. While over­all Pon­ti­ac sales are down, retail sales are actu­al­ly up slight­ly.
