California Scales Back Hydrogen Dream

NULL

California regulators realized they can’t strong-arm automakers into meeting sales goals for hydrogen or zero-emission vehicles (ZEV). In its fourth version of a ZEV mandate launched in 1990, California will now require six automakers to produce 7,500 ZEVs by 2014. That’s a drop of 70% than the 2003 mandate. But now automakers must step up programs to sell plug-in hybrids.
