Toyota Expanding Annual Hybrid Production to 1M After 2010

Toy­ota is build­ing a new NiMH bat­tery plant to per­mit increased pro­duc­tion of its pop­u­lar Prius gas-elec­tric hybrid. It is also work­ing on LiON bat­tery tech­nol­o­gy as the basis for plug-in hybrids which recharge at home and should allow most peo­ple to com­mute using elec­tric motor only.
