The Ener­gy Infor­ma­tion Admin­is­tra­tion reports that the ongo­ing decline in gaso­line con­sump­tion is expect­ed to con­tin­ue through the end of 2009. Fol­low­ing 16 years of con­tin­u­ous growth, demand began to slide in the 4th quar­ter of 2007. EIA attrib­ut­es the decline to a slug­gish econ­o­my and record-high fuel prices.
