Smart Car Going Electric; Look for it in US Late 2009

Smart fortwo ED

Smart car is going electric. The Daimler AG division is testing 100 ED versions of the fortwo models in London and plans to test additional cars in Berlin before bringing the car to the U.S. in late 2009. The ED is expected to travel 150 miles on a single charge. The new electric Smart model is just one of a number of technologies being developed by Daimler in a effort to meet U.S. fuel economy standards and European CO2 rules.
