GM Slipping Further Behind Toyota in Global Race

Up until this year GM sales outside of North America were offsetting sales declines here in the U.S. Now the economic crisis has hit Europe, contracting sales in that GM region. Asia and Latin America are still showing strong growth, but not enough to overcome losses in the U.S. and Western Europe. As a result worldwide sales in the third quarter were down 11%. GM is falling further behind Toyota in the race to be the world’s largest automaker.
