Ethanol Industry Looking for More Subsidies Through Increased Blend

The Detroit Bureau - March 7, 2010

Brazil has built more than 10 million flex-fuel vehicles now, and the vehicles are fueled by sugarcane-derived ethanol. This is coming from an industry that’s not government subsidized, unlike the corn-derived ethanol industry that’s getting about $4 billion a year through a 45 cents per gallon production subsidy and lobbying for an increase from 10% to 15% ethanol blend.
