NHTSA New Crash Test Tougher, Evaluates Fewer Vehicles

- July 29, 2010

Too many vehicles were passing government crash tests. This is a good thing, but not to NHTSA. Their solution is to raise the standards and make it more difficult to pass. Automakers are concerned that consumers will reject vehicles that see their ratings decline. Additionally the government will be testing fewer models than in previous years, potentially leaving some models unrated.
