Toyota, Honda Hit with More Production Cuts

The Detroit Bureau - November 6, 2011

Toyota and Honda have acknowledged that they’ll need to make more production cuts in the wake of the flooding disaster in Thailand. Both automakers source a variety of key components from Thailand, most notably microprocessors and other electronic goods. Toyota is reducing its Japanese production by 30% due to parts shortages, plus more cuts in the U.S. and around the world. These cuts hit Toyota and Honda at a difficult time, as the two collectively lost over a million units of production due to the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
