2013 Ford Fusion to Feature ‘Start-Stop’ System

An auto­mat­ic start-stop sys­tem will be avail­able as a $295 option on Ford’s 2013 Fusion, the first non-hybrid to offer the fea­ture. The com­pa­ny said peo­ple dri­ving in heav­i­ly con­gest­ed areas could see fuel effi­cien­cy improve­ment up to 10%. “We expect the aver­age Fusion dri­ver with the 1.6-liter Eco­Boost engine and auto start-stop will save about $1,100 more than oth­er mid­size sedan own­ers dur­ing five years of dri­ving,” said Saman­tha Hoyt, Fusion mar­ket­ing man­ag­er.
