Ford, Nissan Re-Think Hybrid Programs

- April 9, 2012

Nissan says it will no longer offer a hybrid Altima and Ford is scrapping the hybrid version of its Escape. For one thing, both companies feel they can do well with non-hybrid models getting much better fuel economy and minus the hefty price premium and fees paid to acquire the gas-electric engines. Both are still committed to electric propulsion, however, and will continue to produce battery-operated vehicles.
