New car registration data provided to by Polk indicate that only 38.4 percent of hybrid owners in the Boston area were planning to buy another hybrid when returning to the market last year. The national average for hybrid re-buying is only 35 percent, suggesting that many more car buyers are finding affordable alternatives as the strength of fuel economy increases among many brands.
