Trucking Companies Reduce Exposure to Rising Fuel Costs

Los Angeles Times - April 9, 2012

After being caught unprepared by expensive diesel prices in 2008, trucking companies have gone to extraordinary lengths to reduce their exposure to rising fuel costs. These measures include buying low-emission fuel-efficient diesel and natural gas rigs as well as electric and hybrid models. Driver training to reduce idling time, improved truck loading and route planning, and improved aerodynamics are also paying off.
