Highlights from EVS26 in Los Angeles

EVS26 was attended by global OEMs and suppliers last week at the Los Angeles Convention Center. As for highlights…  What’s it going to be: Level 2 EV chargers, DC fast chargers, or wireless chargers? Qualcomm, Siemens, and Delphi have developed inductive charging mats for wireless charging and are just bringing it to the US market…. DC fast chargers are being installed around the country faster than expected, but there’s the question of whether the SAE standard or the Japanese CHAdeMO standard will be adopted as the widely accepted format. US and German automakers are endorsing the single-post SAE fast charger, and Nissan and Mitsubishi have been using CHAdeMO.. Los Angeles was given the E-Visionary award by World Electric Vehicle Association. Acknowledgements included the LA Dept. of Water and Power offering customers rebates up to $2,000 on home charging stations; and implementing EV ready building codes; and the Mayor’s Office supporting growth of EV companies doing business in town – Coda Automotive, BYD, and Boulder EV…  A webinar panelists that included former GM vice chairman Bob Lutz talked about the market trend of electric vehicles gradually shifting for consumers from a mental, dollars-and-sense decision to an emotional experience.
