Aver­age sales price for all vehi­cles sold at auc­tion fell below $10,000 for 1st time since Feb­ru­ary, sig­nal­ing end to this year’s char­ac­ter­is­ti­cal­ly strong Spring/Tax sea­son; As gaso­line prices soft­ened in June, prices for car seg­ments fell more dra­mat­i­cal­ly than for truck seg­ments.

Whole­sale Used Vehi­cle Prices Con­tin­ued to Soft­en Cycli­cal­ly and Sea­son­al­ly:
Prices in June aver­aged $9,893 – down 3.7% com­pared to May and down 3.6% rel­a­tive to June 2011.

Retail Used Vehi­cle Sales Up for Fran­chised Deal­ers, but Down for Inde­pen­dent Deal­ers:
Indi­ca­tion that both inven­to­ry and traf­fic favors fran­chised deal­ers in cur­rent used vehi­cle mar­ket envi­ron­ment.

June Sales of Cer­ti­fied Used Vehi­cles:
Up 3.3% month-over-month and 8.9% year-over-year, based on data from Auto­da­ta.
