Chrysler sold 126,089 units, said its sales increase was driven by two models that set sales records for the month of July: the Chrysler 200 midsize sedan and the Dodge Journey full-size crossover. Sales of the Journey were up 69 percent, the largest percentage increase of any Chrysler model in July.

GM said its July sales of 201,237 units were down 6.4 percent over the same month a year ago, largely because sales to rental fleet customers dropped by 41 percent.
