Taylor: Dealer Sales Are Increasing

Paul Tay­lor, chief econ­o­mist for the Nation­al Auto­mo­bile Deal­ers Asso­ci­a­tion, said deal­er sales are increas­ing and, for the first time in three years, deal­ers aren’t rely­ing on their ser­vice depart­ments to put them in the black.

Urban Sci­ence said the U.S. deal­er­ship net­work is poised to reach record-break­ing aver­age num­ber of sales per deal­er­ship and prof­itabil­i­ty lev­els by the end of the year.

… the aver­age num­ber of sales per deal­er­ship will rise to 805 vehi­cles annu­al­ly, because there are few­er deal­ers and sales are up indus­try-wide this year, to a pro­ject­ed 14.3 mil­lion cars and light trucks. The pre­vi­ous record is 784 per deal­er.
