The Detroit Bureau - February 26, 2013

Despite a previous decline in teen driving fatalities, teen driving deaths spiked during the first half of 2012. Experts think the rise in deaths is due to an increase in distracted driving, and the Governors Highway Safety Association reported that deaths among 16- and 17-year-old drivers rose a combined 19%. This surge is larger than that of the general driving population.
