New York Auto Show Focuses on Luxury

The New York Auto Show, run­ning March 29 to April 7, will high­light automak­ers’ design, enter­tain­ment and man­u­fac­tur­ing in their lat­est mod­els.

Twen­ty-three automak­ers will reveal cars and crossovers that have nev­er been seen before in the U.S. as the show cel­e­brates its 113th anniver­sary. The offer­ings will be heav­i­ly weight­ed toward lux­u­ry brands.

“There is always an abun­dance of lux­u­ry vehi­cles at the New York show,” said Michelle Krebs, an ana­lyst with, a con­sumer and deal­er infor­ma­tion ser­vice. “It’s because New York and Los Ange­les are the biggest lux­u­ry car mar­kets in the Unit­ed States.”

Bent­ley, BMW, Mer­cedes-Benz, Porsche, Acu­ra, Cadil­lac, Jaguar, Infini­ti and Land Rover have some­thing new.

Mercedes-Benz’s news will focus on an AMG ver­sion of its CLA-Class small sedan that will debut this fall. The entry-lev­el CLA-Class will be priced at about $30,000 and is aimed at younger buy­ers.

Audi is expect­ed to show a redesigned A3 sedan, while Porsche will take the wraps off the 50th anniver­sary edi­tion of the 911. The fifth gen­er­a­tion of the 911 GT3 has a 3.8-liter V6 engine that pro­duces 475 horse­pow­er.
