IntelliChoice Announces Winners in 14th Annual CPO Awards

Cer­ti­fied pre-owned vehi­cles have been around long enough to see the rank­ing man­u­fac­tur­er-spon­sored CPO pro­grams. It’s the only award rank­ing out there like it – to the extent that some man­u­fac­tur­ers have devel­oped their CPO pro­grams using the Intel­li­Choice inspec­tion and rank­ing cri­te­ria as bench­marks, accord­ing to the com­pa­ny.

Here’s the six win­ners for this year and rea­sons for their recog­ni­tion:

Best Pre­mi­um CPO Pro­gram Award:  Vol­vo Cer­ti­fied Pre-Owned
The Vol­vo Cer­ti­fied Pre-Owned Pro­gram has been IntelliChoice’s top Pre­mi­um Pro­gram for the last eight years and has achieved a 100% Inspec­tion Score since 2008, which speaks to the thor­ough­ness of its inspec­tion process. Vol­vo has sold over 10,000 cer­ti­fied pre-owned vehi­cles in the first three quar­ters of 2014, which rep­re­sents a 34% increase over the same time peri­od in 2013. All of Volvo’s 307 deal­er­ships par­tic­i­pate in the pro­gram.

Best Pop­u­lar CPO Pro­gram Award:  Hyundai Cer­ti­fied Pre-Owned
For the fourth-con­sec­u­tive year Hyundai received the dis­tinc­tion of “Best Pop­u­lar Pro­gram” in IntelliChoice’s annu­al Cer­ti­fied Pre-Owned (CPO) Car Awards. Hyundai secured the top spot amongst 14 pop­u­lar brands due to its strong used car brand val­ue and CPO sales mar­ket pen­e­tra­tion. Hyundai’s pre-owned pro­gram, Hyundai Cer­ti­fied Pre-Owned sees 782 deal­er­ships enrolled, which is 95% of avail­able deal­er­ships. Hyundai has sold over 71,000 cer­ti­fied pre-owned vehi­cles in the first three quar­ters of 2014, which rep­re­sents an increase of about 24% over the same time peri­od in 2013.

Best Pre­mi­um CPO War­ran­ty Award:  Vol­vo Cer­ti­fied Pre-Owned
Here’s the cer­ti­fied pre-owned war­ran­ty: 84-Month/100,000-mile com­pre­hen­sive from orig­i­nal in-ser­vice date. As for the ben­e­fits beyond the new car war­ran­ty: 24-month/50,000-miles com­pre­hen­sive for 2012 mod­els; 24-month/40,000-miles com­pre­hen­sive for 2010 and 2011 mod­els, and 36-month/50,000-mile com­pre­hen­sive for mod­els 2007–2009.

Best Pop­u­lar CPO War­ran­ty Award:  MINI NEXT Cer­ti­fied Pre­owned
MINI has had the best Pop­u­lar Brand War­ran­ty since 2008. As for its CPO war­ran­ty: 24-Month/50,000-mile named exclu­sion war­ran­ty after the new car 4 Year/50,000 mile war­ran­ty expires. Ben­e­fits beyond the new car war­ran­ty: 24-month/50,000-mile named exclu­sion war­ran­ty.

Best Pre­mi­um Brand Used Own­er­ship Costs Award:  Lin­coln Cer­ti­fied Pre-Owned
Lin­coln Cer­ti­fied Pre-Owned, has sold over 19,000 cer­ti­fied pre-owned vehi­cles in the first three quar­ters of 2014, an increase of 18% over the same time peri­od in 2013. Based on the annu­al Intel­li­Choice Cer­ti­fied Pro­gram Analy­sis, Lin­coln was the top Pre­mi­um Brand in Used Car Own­er­ship Costs for the last four years, as well as receiv­ing a 100% Inspec­tion Score.

Best Pop­u­lar Brand Used Own­er­ship Costs Award:  Hon­da Cer­ti­fied Used Cars
Honda’s pre-owned pro­gram, Hon­da Cer­ti­fied Used Cars sees 1,034 deal­er­ships enrolled, which is 98% of avail­able deal­er­ships. Hon­da has sold over 174,000 cer­ti­fied pre-owned vehi­cles in the first three quar­ters of 2014, which rep­re­sents a decrease of about 8% over the same time peri­od in 2013. The Hon­da CPO pro­gram was the best Pop­u­lar Pro­gram from 2000 to 2004 and has been in the Top Five for the 14 out of 16 years of our analy­sis. Hon­da also won Best Pop­u­lar Brand in Used Car Own­er­ship Costs for 2013 and 2015.
